'baywatch

A look at the rare and interesting boards that have recently been and gone on ebay .Some of them went very quick - blink and you'd miss em.
A seller in Cheshire had a couple of boards on including this rare Space Gypsy by Danny Garland which needed a bit of work but still made a hefty price. I think the seller was amazed at the interest.

Nice Tiki singlefin with rare full deck airbrush of a barreling left and sunset sky.
This Ted Deerhurst appeared last weekend and disappeared almost immediately - something which happens almost all the time on ebay when something decent comes up. One of the reasons ebay isn't as much fun as it used to be. This looks a really nice board, shaped by Ted and likely to have been surfed by him as it has his union jack lightning bolt logo. The seller says -' This board was given to me many years ago for my son who never used it as we live in London. Having done a little research it would appear to be a 1970’s or perhaps earlier, Ted Deerhurst lightning bolt, it also has the Deerhurst Lion motif. The board measures 206cm X 50cm at its widest point (81” X 20”).'

Bit of a mystery this 'Freedom's Family'. Not a Freedom and with a Bilbo fin system.

Classic fluoro 6'5 Tris by Martin Wright
Yes one of those classic DS safaris turned up too. Auction ended early.

Rare and lightweight Westcoast made in Woolacombe ,shaped by South African Clive Barber, it bears his personal logo and some Clark foam decals he brought over with him to make the British foam appear more 'professional'. Tony says about the board-' Its got a Clive Barber logo on it so probably shaped by him around July 1969.He was here from about June through to August, a pretty small window.
Fitz usually couldnt be bothered with thin and accurate pinlines so that would be Roger Lyndon's (NZ) work around the rails. The Clark foam logos are interesting too ,as we couldnt get Clark foam at the time, so the blanks were usually from Bilbo or a few from Groves. So like the Barber logo, the CF logos were brought across from South Africa.'

This is one of the first ever Tikis, made at Abergevenny in Wales by Tim and Dave before their permanent move to Devon. A stringerless 8'6, the original fin had been knocked out but this is still an early gem.

Very clean Bruce Palmer 7ft singlefin  made at Croyde in the mid 70s. Another old surfboard stuck in London !
